Fair Contracts for CCA Faculty & Staff Now!

Our working conditions are student learning conditions. Despite that, the CCA administration refuses to bargain any of the priorities our members have repeatedly identified as essential to a fair contract.

CCA Administration: Stop Making Unilateral Decisions; Negotiate Fair Union Contracts for Faculty and Staff Now!

Over the past year, President Beal’s union-busting attorney, Michael Vartain, and the administration’s bargaining teams have:

  • Cut adjunct pay through widespread abuse of “half lines.”
  • Furloughed half the staff, laid-off workers without regard for seniority, and unilaterally cut Staff members’ wages and hours.
  • Cut classes from adjuncts and undermined adjuncts’ seniority rights.
  • Put the profits of banks and real estate developers ahead of CCA workers and students.
  • Refused to bargain with the union. There are 14 union proposals for adjuncts that have been on the table that CCA has refused to discuss since September. There are 14 union proposals for staff that have been on the table since November 2019 with no discussion.

 

We call on President Beal and the CCA management to stop making unilateral changes to our working conditions and agree to fair contracts now for both staff and adjuncts that include:

  1. Living wages for all workers with regularly scheduled raises at CCA
  2. Meaningful new investments in racial equity
  3. Transparency by the board of trustees and administration—no more secret decisions!
  4. Real, enforceable job security and seniority rights for staff and adjuncts like all unionized workers enjoy
