WHY?

  • A staffing plan was approved by the Board over three years ago: 10 new recycling positions in two phases. The second phase was supposed to be implemented in 2024.

  • So far, only ONE has been hired.

  • A hiring freeze was implemented without union notice by Interim Chancellor Bailey.

  • Delays caused hires to fall through

Recycling is overflowing, and staff are stretched to the limit.

Our students deserve clean campuses and a greener future. The CCSF Board has failed to ensure that its initial promise to fully staff this critical climate justice initiative is fulfilled.

We, the community, demand that the Board take immediate action to clean up our campuses and fulfill its commitment.

OUR DEMANDS:

  • Hire the ten (10) Recycling staff needed to fulfill the promise of a world-class sustainable college and a responsive climate-friendly learning and working environment

  • Fully staff and ensure adequate recycling resources district-wide

  • Ensure safe, fair, and sustainable working conditions
